Let’s take a trip down memory lane of Maureen’s career at Farmers. Maureen started with us on February 11, 1991 as a Rater. In 1996 she was promoted to Senior Rater and then moved on to Rating Supervisor in 2002. In 2017 Farmers of Salem went through some restructuring and Maureen moved to be a Rating Specialist. This is where quality assurance and assisting the underwriting department became what she is known for today.
From 1991 through 2025 Maureen found a home at Farmers of Salem. It is important for us to talk about the years between 1991 and today. Her contributions to the success of the company have not gone unnoticed.
In 1991 the company had a direct written premium of $14,952,393 to be exact. As of the end of 2024, Farmers of Salem finished the year with a direct written premium around $108,0000,000. Maureen was here for all this growth. When she started, Farmers of Salem only wrote business in New Jersey. She assisted with the expansion into the state Maryland. Then, to keep her busy with testing we decided to add the state of Pennsylvania. Right before she retired, Farmers decided to squeeze in the state of Delaware. As of today, we can be sure she was testing our last line to be deployed in this state. Maureen has watched the industry change and worked on implementing many new products like Equipment Breakdown, Service Line, Inland Flood, and Cyber to name a few.
She has worked on three different policy administration systems in her tenure. She began her career working on the IDP system. Maureen became such an asset within the company she was tapped to assist the conversion from IDP to SCIPS in 2000. Maureen also saw in her career at Farmers the implementation of the Imageright system which we still use today. She did conversions so well that in 2018 she was asked again to work on our latest conversion from SCIPS to FINYS. Although….we do remember gently threatening her that she wasn’t able to leave/retire until she saw through the development of FINYS, especially commercial package. Well, she did that and stayed a little longer, as the last line of business in FINYS went live on Jan 1st of 2023.
As many know, Maureen has spent countless and countless and countless hours testing and retesting systems. She has a keen eye to pick up the slightest errors that got past other testers. If someone missed it, she found it. She is always willing to move where needed and has spent numerous hours on special projects, entering conversion policies, and assisting underwriting with their processing.
This is not goodbye! It has been an awesome 34 years, and it has been an absolute pleasure having Maureen work at Farmers of Salem. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for all that you have done to make Farmers the company that it is today.
