Intern Program

At Farmers of Salem, our interns are valued and treated like full-time employees from the very first interview through their final day in the office. We provide excellent training with experts in all aspects of the insurance industry, allowing for worthwhile paid internships for a wide variety of disciplines. Interns work closely with mentors to gain real-world experience while directly contributing to the success of the Company.

  • How long has it been in operation? 9 years
  • Why do we work with Temple University? Temple University of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, uniquely hosts Actuarial Science and Risk Management and Insurance degree programs for students. Dr. Drennan, Chair of Risk, Actuarial Science, and Legal Studies at Temple University, along with the team, challenge students through thought-provoking course work and setting the bar quite high. RMI students are members of Gamma Iota Sigma, which helps to prepare students for their future career by polishing their interview skills, creating resumes, and providing various opportunities to network with professionals working in the industry. Farmers of Salem’s home office located in Wilmington, Delaware is a short 30 minute commute via express train from 30th Street Station in Philadelphia.
  • Overall experience. Over the past several years, Farmers of Salem has had the pleasure of providing internship opportunities to two students each summer. The difference with Farmers of Salem’s internship program, is that we ask interns to roll up their sleeves and get to work alongside our tenured team members. This job shadowing approach has allowed interns to gain first-hand experiences as they rotate through the various departments of the organization. Our employees enjoy having the interns over the summer, not only to share their knowledge, but to learn from the interns that have been so well prepared by Temple.
